Pericardial calcification

A 45 yo male with the diagnosis of constrictive pericarditis underwent coronary angiography to see preoperative coronary anatomy. Note the extensive pericardial calcification.  Here are some information about pericardial calcification;

  1. It is more common in constrictive pericarditis due to tuberculosis.
  2. It is seen only 1/3 of constrictive pericarditis cases
  3. Presence of pericardial calcification does not prove constriction.
